Please come out and support our new Tigers this year.
Age Groups Available
Archer
Rec. League Basketball divides the athletes by age. Two or more age
groups may be combined to form a league with the decision being based
upon a review of the number of registrants each year. The following
leagues will be offered this year:
Boys 5/6 Girls 5/6
Boys 7/8 Girls 7/8
Boys 9/10 Girls 9/10
Boys 11/12 Girls 11/12
Boys 13/14 Girls 13/14
Boys 15/18 Girls 15/18
Skill Evaluations
All
players in the Rec. Leagues will be placed on a team, it is required
that players attend their age group skill evaluation. The goal of the
Archer Rec. Leagues is to provide the most balanced and competitive set
of teams possible in all leagues. To accomplish that goal, all players
must attend and be assessed so that we can evenly distribute players of
each skill level across all teams. Players not attending the skill
evaluation will negatively impact the talent and experience mix on
their team.
Practices / Games
Teams will typically
have an average of 2 practices per week prior to the start of the
season. After the season begins, teams will usually have one practice
per week. Note that this is dependent upon the availability of the
facilities, the number of teams in each league, school closings, etc.
Also note that the High School age groups will have fewer practices and
play more games than the other age groups.
Volunteers
Archers
Basketball Program is completely staffed by volunteers. Youth
Basketball in the Archer Community will not be possible without you. If
you are interested in being a Coach, Assistant Coach, or Age Group
Coordinator please fill out a coaches application. If you would like to be a Team Mom or just offer to help in any way please indicate this when you register your athlete.
GBL
In
addition to AAA Basketball, we will also have boys and girls 5th, 6th,
and 7th grade teams to represent the Archer Cluster in the Gwinnett
Basketball League (GBL). GBL's mission is "to develop a highly
competitive youth basketball program designed specifically to enhance
the skills of the most serious minded basketball players. The GBL
exists to develop teams with players from the same Gwinnett Public School Clusters, thus developing a program of feeder systems for the High Schools in Gwinnett County.
A major emphasis is to provide the opportunity for the youth to have
fun and enjoy basketball while learning proper sports skills and
techniques in an atmosphere where good sportsmanship,
ethics and competitiveness are stressed." If you would like additional
information on GBL, please visit there website at http://gwinnettbasketball.com.
